WINTER BREAK CAR RALLY PORTRAYS "CRUISIN' THROUGH THE YEARS"
(June 28, Laughlin, Nev — Laughlin invites all custom classics and hot rods to enjoy the fun in the sun as part of the Winter Break Car Rally on January 6, 2007. "Come check out the cool rides and warm, fun-filled winter days," exclaims Shirlee Leibee from the local River Cruizers Car Club.
All makes and models of cars will be on display at the Riverside and the Edgewater Casino Parking Lots. The public will be asked to vote for their favorite Muscle Car, Classic Car, Hot Rod, American Made Car, and International Car. In addition, judges will choose a "Laughlin's Best of Show". Awards will be presented at the Winter Break Sock Hop, presented by Humana, Inc. at the River Palms on Saturday evening.
The next day, the cars will cruise Route 66 on a Poker Run beginning with an included brunch at Desert Springs Fairway Homes. Continuing to Oatman, participants will draw cards, trying to secure the best poker hand before returning to Laughlin.
Winter Break, presented by Humana, Inc is week-long festival which mirrors a typical spring break for kids, re-lived 30-50 years later. The 5th Annual will be celebrated January 5-11, 2007, with a schedule full of fun, crazy, educational, and entertaining events. "It's almost like a land-based cruise," states Winter Breaker Helen Moden. "I wake up and plan my day, choosing from the vast schedule of daily activities."
"Winter Break is the time and place for guests to 'Act Their Age - Give or Take 30 Years'. said event promoter Sue Arko. "The menu of activities is designed to marry the memories of high school and university life with the activities active adults across the country enjoy now."
The Car Rally entry fee of $25 (prior to Dec. 1, 2006) or $35 (after Dec. 1, 2006) per car includes entry into the Rally, DJ with music, raffles and prizes, T-Shirt, plaque and goodie bag, Car Rally Reception, Sock Hop, two Winter Break wristbands, and the Route 66 Poker Run and Brunch. Spectators wishing to participate in Winter Break can do so with one admission price of $39 (prior to Dec. 1, 2006) or $49 (after Dec. 1, 2006), which entitles them to all of the official activities of Winter Break. Packages including admission and three nights accommodations are available, starting at $99 per person, double occupancy. Packages inclusive of motorcoach transportation from Las Vegas, Phoenix, Tucson, or Southern California, three nights accommodations and admission are also available.
