WinterBreak 2003

GIVE A "CELEBRATION OF LIFE" TO YOUR PARENTS THIS HOLIDAY SEASON

(April 19, Laughlin, Nev — In January, 2007, Winter Breakers will again be heading to Laughlin, NV for the week long celebration of living life to the fullest. This year, instead of buying a gift for your parents, give them a vacation to attend Winter Break, presented by Humana, Inc.

In 2006, over 4200 guests attended the fourth annual Winter Break. The week-long festival mirrors a typical spring break for kids, re-lived 30-50 years later. In the mid-1800s, university students would take one week each spring to recuperate from the trials of academia. As women became more and more common on the campuses of America the atmosphere changed, and became more playful. Spring Break was still a way to escape the challenges of the classroom, but also grew to become a celebration of life without worry.

"Parents typically foot the bill for spring break vacations for their children," said event promoter Sue Arko. "Now it's time for kids to pay back the favor and buy a trip to Winter Break presented by Humana, Inc. for their parents."

The Winter Break schedule is full of fun, crazy, educational, and entertaining events. "It's almost like a land-based cruise," states Winter Breaker Helen Moden. "I wake up and plan my day, choosing from the vast schedule of daily activities."

Choices include a Sock Hop, the Winter Break Car Rally and Route 66 Poker Run, a Polar Bear Dip in the Colorado River, a Rock 'N Bowl Tournament, a Health Fair, Wine Tasting, Cooking Classes, Art Classes, three live shows, free gaming tournaments, and much more! Each event is planned to keep its participants feeling young and carefree.

Talented and community service oriented senior men and women can enter the Winter Break Homecoming King and Queen Contest to be held in one of Laughlin's showrooms. Bobbi and Jack Leahy, the 2006 Homecoming Queen and King will be on hand to turn over the title to the 2007 winner. Always a favorite John Noxom's Big Band will be performing at the Senior Prom for the fifth consecutive year. And festival goers will attempt to create the world's longest chorus line in front of several hotels on Casino Drive. The dance line consisting of 250+ kickers features over 12,000 years of experience!
